If Artemis is in network for a specific BCBS plan, negotiated rates may reduce the family’s out-of-pocket costs. Network status, covered services, deductibles, copays, and coinsurance must be confirmed for the member’s plan.
What Teen Rehab Programs Are Covered by BCBS Insurance at Artemis Adolescent Healing Center?
A BCBS plan may cover residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, or outpatient services at Artemis when the plan’s terms and medical-necessity requirements are met. The appropriate starting level of care is determined through clinical assessment; covered benefits and authorization must be confirmed for the specific plan.
Residential Inpatient Treatment
We provide residential substance abuse and mental health treatment covered by BCBS. Residential treatment programs involve living on-site at our center for teens during the program. It is highly structured. Teens receive daily therapy and will benefit from:
- Licensed staff members available 24/7 for supervision and support
- The most evidence-based, up-to-date treatments
- Individualized treatment plans
- PhD and masters level teen therapists
- Trauma-informed, compassionate care
- Healthy activities (e.g., exercise, yoga)
- An upscale, supportive setting
- Fresh, healthy, delicious food
Family visitation is allowed. Rooms are comfortable and home-like. The facility is safe with extensive amenities and activities for teens to enjoy. Most teens stay for around 30 days. This can vary based on treatment needs, insurance coverage, and other factors.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Partial hospitalization programs are the next step down from residential inpatient programs. A teen in PHP at Artemis will come to therapy at our center daily throughout the week. The time commitment is similar to that of a typical school schedule.
However, teens in PHP can sleep and live at home. PHP is commonly used as an alternative to or step down from inpatient teen addiction treatment.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Our intensive outpatient programs have a significantly lower time commitment than PHP.
Teens in IOP at Artemis attend therapy at our center a few hours per day on treatment days. This makes it possible to continue school or other responsibilities during substance abuse treatment.
Some teens start IOP after finishing a higher level of care. This eases the transition from more intensive support to typical daily life. Others (those who don’t require a higher level of care at their time of entrance) start treatment in IOP.

Pre-Assessment Call
After your teen’s BCBS insurance is verified, we’ll ask for a brief overview of what brings them to treatment. Our staff members will tell you about our programs and what to expect if you move forward. As with insurance verification, this call is cost and commitment-free.
Intake Evaluation and Admissions
After determining that our treatment center is the right fit, it is time for a comprehensive intake evaluation. This differs from a pre-assessment call. It’s more in-depth. At this time, we’ll ask questions about:
- Current symptoms (e.g., type and amount of substances currently used, overall mental health)
- Personal history (e.g., how long a teen has been using, whether they have been to treatment)
- Co-occurring disorders and mental health challenges (e.g., trauma, depression, bipolar disorder)
They will also need a medical exam from a healthcare provider, such as a primary care physician.
Starting Addiction Treatment
After that, it’s time to start mental health treatment and/or addiction treatment for your child. We’ll answer any questions you have and discuss information such as:
- Program start date (first day of treatment)
- What to bring to treatment and what to leave at home (if your child is entering residential treatment)
- An overview of what to expect toward the end of the program (e.g., how we collaborate with you to determine a discharge date, what to expect regarding discharge and aftercare planning)
